Allison Devereux

A native of Texas, Allison Devereux graduated from The University of Texas at Austin's Plan II Honors Program, with a focus in art history. After stints at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center and The Institute of Classical Archaeology in Austin, she got her first job in trade publishing at Macmillan in 2011, before moving into agenting at Wolf Literary Services. While building her client list at Wolf Lit, she also directed the agency's foreign rights department. She joined The Cheney Agency in 2019, representing a broad range of nonfiction and select literary fiction. She is particularly interested in cultural criticism, popular science and philosophy, deeply reported narrative, outward-facing memoir, investigative journalism, social history, “big idea” books, and select illustrated & graphic projects. Her clients have been New York Times bestsellers and National Book Critics Circle, PEN Award, and National Magazine Award finalists. She lives in Brooklyn.
